Philanthropic group donates 205 walking canes to FCT blind school

A group, Yahaya Kwande Foundation has donated 205 pieces of collapsible walking canes to students and teachers of the FCT School of the Blind, Jabi, Abuja.

It also said that the gesture is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the visually impaired students of the school.

Presenting the items, Mr Yusuf Yahaya Kwande, who doubles as the Founder, Yahaya-Kwande Foundation, said the gesture was in collaboration with his brother, Jemilu, and group of friends.

He added that gesture would improve the living condition of the beneficiaries in great measures.

According to him, ”We embarked on this mission as a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who are going through unique challenges.

”This gesture goes far beyond the physical canes; it symbolises a recognition of the potential of these students.

”I also believe in their ability to thrive inspite of their visual impairment”, he explained.

Kwande who has demonstrated his philanthropic attributes to the less privilege, vowed to support the students to attain their full potentials in life; also promised to donate some laptops to the school before the end of 2024.

Principal of the school, Mrs Uganden Ngunan, flanked by Godwin Lazarus, the Head Boy and teachers of the school, received the items on behalf of the students.

She appreciated the organisation for the gesture and urged well meaning individuals to always reach out to those in need.
