AMAC strengthens fight against ‘one chance’ in Karu

Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has inaugurated Karu motor park to strengthen its fight against one chance and other illegal activities within the area.

Inaugurating the park on Wednesday, chairman of the council, Hon. Christopher Maikàlangu said the initiative is aimed at reinforcing measures that will help to ensure coordination in the transportation sector and promote sanity.

Maikalanku said his administration will provide adequate security gadgets that would aid in checking of passengers coming into the park as well as curb criminal elements.

According to him, the park which is first of its kind in the area will discourage passengers from boarding vehicles on the roads which leads unsuspecting members of the public to fall in the hands of criminal elements that parade themselves as genuine commercial motorists.

He said, “the park is built to serve many purposes in Karu Chiefdom, the place will coordinate travellers coming in and going out.

” It will help the fight against one-chance in the Federal Capital Territory successful. We will provide security gadgets that will be aiding to check the passengers coming in and going out” Maikàlangu said.

On his part, the contractor and Chief Executive Officer, Pedecs Investment Limited, Peter Gumtha, said execution of the project under Public and Private Partnership arrangement, became possible after successful 12 years of legal battle.

He said the park will assist travellers by road have stress free journey because of the structures put in place.

According to him, the park which has 163 shops and offices with a restaurant also has designated places for prayers which will be managed by his company for the period of 25 years, subject to renewal.
