From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Mr. Ben Osuagwu, a veteran Journalist and resident of the area told The Authority that all efforts made to install the transformer since it was given to them, months ago have been frustrated due to financial handicap, coupled with the rules and guidelines of the National Electricity Rugulatory Commission which says that it is the sole duty of the Distribution Company to install and maintain electricity equipments.

Osuagwu observed that of all zones in Area L comprising 6 zones, it is only Zone 4 that has no transformer.

He lamented that the one they share with another zone had suddenly broken down, due to excess load.

The Senior Citizen further informed that some people from other areas have been making desperate efforts to cart away the transformer, because it has not been installed and its security can not much be guaranteed.

Osuagwu passionately pleaded with the State government and EEDC for urgent intervention so that the residents of the area will join other electricity users to have light during the forthcoming festive period, decrying their been in darkness for sometime now.
