The late billionaire businessman and senator representing Anambra South, Chief (Dr) Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, was a political colossus and national bridge builder whose many friends abound across political divides and in all parts of the country.

.His death has, therefore, left a huge void in the minds of millions of his admirers across the world, as well as in the political terrain of Anambra State and Nigeria in general.

This was contained in a special tribute by the Director General of the late senator’s campaign organisation in the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ifeoma Onwudiwe, who also described him as an uncommon philanthropist. Also known as Oke-Awelle in Anambra political circles, Hon. Onwudiwe said in the press statement issued in Awka, that Ubah was a young successful businessman who used his tremendous wealth to uplift the ordinary people in the society.

Thus, to her, the late Senator was not a typical Nigerian successful businessman and politician, but a beacon of hope for the downtrodden who used his numerous investments under the Capital Group, his political activities, scholarship programmes and foundations, to impact positively on millions of lives. For instance, Hon. Onwudiwe recalled, his Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, has been catering for widows, empowering thousands of youths and women, and awarding scholarships to pupils and students in various schools.

As a sports lover and administrator who believed in youth empowerment as a means of curbing crimes and restiveness, Senator Ubah owned a sports complex in Nnewi and formed the popular Ufeanyi Ubah Football Club, which was once in the top division.

“He will be missed by the Ubanation – the millions of Ifeanyi Ubah associates, followers, admirers and beneficiaries of his philanthropic gestures – whose lives he touched,” she stated.

To Oke-Awelle, the late Senator’s successful journey into politics is a case study in leadership roles, political mentorship and teamwork.

“The distinguished Senatori was a young politician whose political sagacity and tactics always left the opposition confused. He was a special gift from God to Ndigbo. We lost a man of integrity, kindness, and incomparable humility.”Dr. Ifeanyi Uba was born on September 3, 1971, to the family of Late Mr. & Mrs. Alphonsus Ubah of Umuanuka, Otolo, Nnewi, in Anambra State.

He was a true Christian who has always put God above everything else, hence, he was also popular called Ebube Chukwu Uzo.

The Chairman of Capital Capital Oil & Gas Industries Limited died in a London Hospital, on July 27, 2024, and tributes have been pouring in since his funeral programme commenced some days ago.

The former campaign DG, who was still actively involved in Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah’ s political activities till his death, especially in the build-up to the governorship election scheduled to hold in November 2025, said his passing was devastating:

“The high intensity shock-wave Senator Patrick Uba’s death generated in me still vibrates to my marrow.“It is true that the world is a stage. it is also true that every player will exit the stage at different times, which means that death is a necessary end.

Yet, I find it difficult to come to terms with the reality that Senator Ubah, an extraordinary philanthropist, a vivifying socialite, a harbinger of peace, as well as a political and social mobiliser has exit the field in his prime.

”Hon. Onwudiwe disclosed that she, along with other numerous friends of the politician, had, however taken solace in the book of Isaiah 57. 1-2, believing that it was God that invited him home for his own good, “considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.” Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah will be buried on Friday, November 22, 2024.
