Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended his congratulations to Alhassan Yahaya on his election as the new president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) during the triennial delegates’ conference held in Owerri, Imo State.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo praised Yahaya as a dedicated media professional whose tenure as the Deputy National President of the union demonstrated a strong commitment to the welfare of Nigerian journalists.
The Governor commended Yahaya’s inclusive consultation and campaign approach, which he said played a pivotal role in his emergence as NUJ president.
He urged the new leader to maintain an all-inclusive agenda while prioritizing the welfare of union members during his tenure.
Governor Ododo also lauded the orderly conduct of union members during the election process, which led to the successful transition of leadership.
In addition, the Governor congratulated Alhaji Momoh Jimoh Adeiza, General Manager of Radio Nigeria Prime FM, Lokoja, on his election as the NUJ Vice President for Zone D, which includes Kogi, Benue, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau states, and the Federal Capital Territory.
Describing Adeiza as an accomplished journalist, Governor Ododo acknowledged his contributions to enhancing the reputation of Kogi State through his work in the media industry.
The Governor wished the new NUJ president and the entire national executive committee a successful tenure as they take on their leadership responsibilities.
