Journalist gives succour to battered Imo girl, sibling

Respite has finally been giving to the family of 12 year old Amarachi Emmanuel, her elder sibling, Comfort and their father by Comrade Chidiebube Okeoma, a journalist cum human rights activist as he attracted comprehensive secondary school scholarships for the children and a befitting accommodation for the family.

Recall that last October, Okeoma through intelligence report rescued these minors from their step mother who allegedly physically assaulted and battered them for cooking rice without her permission even as the children were under severe starvation.

The video of the battered bodies of these minors with their unhealthy father lamenting went viral and received global condemnation, with many asking for a jungle justice against the accused who’s a teacher and without a child of her own from the marriage.

Following the global out cry, the Imo State Police Command ordered for the immediate arrest of the step mother as accused, after interrogations before the media and the general public, she was remanded in Owerri correctional centre as investigations were still ongoing then.

However, she is currently being prosecuted at Owerri Chief Magistrate Court by the office of the Commissioner of Police in the state.

Okeoma who is the founder and President of Stand For Humanity Foundation, a Non Governmental Organization while briefing news men recently on the update of the issue, informed that his organization has secured a comprehensive scholarships award to the two girls, who were the victims of battery and physical assaults, through Tendersouls Humanitarian Foundation as the sponsors.

Okeoma, disclosed that Amarachi and Comfort were last Friday enrolled at Amazing Grace International Secondary school located in the Orji axis of Owerri, Imo State capital.

The journalist disclosed that himself together with his team went with Dr Grace Chukwukere, who is the founder of Tendersouls Humanitarian Foundation to the school and enrolled them.

Okeoma, informed that apart from paying 100 percent of the fees, the foundation also bought back to school materials, sanitary and toiletry items for the kids.

The Human Rights Activist further said that Tendersouls Humanitarian Foundation had undertaken the responsibility of seeing the children through secondary school education.

The journalist also informed that he had also secured an apartment in Owerri for the kids, their father and kid brother.

According to Okeoma, a member of the House of representatives, Deacon Chike Okafor gave him money to secure the apartment for the kids.

Okeoma, disclosed that through the helps of some compassionate Nigerians, he had been able to furnish the apartment for the children.

He said that the idea was to show the children love and care so that they will be useful in life.

Okeoma “we have been able to secure secondary school education scholarships for Amarachi and Comfort. This is courtesy of Tendersouls Humanitarian Foundation led by Dr Grace Chukwukere.

“They paid 100 percent of the fees, bought back to school materials and toiletries for the kids. They will undertake the responsibility till they are through with secondary school education. May God bless them.

“Through the help of a member of the House of representatives, Deacon Chike Okafor, my foundation, Stand for Humanity Foundation, has secured an apartment for them.Some compassionate Nigerians assisted us and we were able to furnish the apartment.

“The idea is to assist the children to have good breaths of fresh air so as to be useful in life. The message we are trying to inculcate into them, is that humanity is kind and not wicked. We will follow-up on the children’s growth to ensure that they become great in life” he assured.
