President Bola Tinubu has approved the sum of N50bn for provision of potable water to residents of Abuja satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike, disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony of a 5kilometer asphalt road project in Kuje Area Council, on Thursday.
He said the amount has been captured in the 2025 budget.
According to him, “Sometimes last year, we went to China. We signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a company called, CGC, to provide water to the satellite towns in the FCT, and one of the area councils is Kuje Area Council.
“So, in this year’s budget, Mr. President has provided the sum of N50 billion to provide water to the satellite towns, which Kuje, would be a beneficiary.”
Wike also revealed that President Tinubu has also approved the rehabilitation of Kuje-Pegi road, as well as the rehabilitation of Kuje-Kwaku road, in Kuje Area Council of the territory.
He assured that the present administration would develop Abuja satellite towns to the point that residents would no longer be interested to leave their communities to come to the city centres to live.
The FCT minister stated that the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not about party, but about changing the lives of Nigerians for better.
“There is nothing difficult about development. When we have a government that has the interest of the people, development will come.
“And that is what President Tinubu is doing, particularly using FCT as a case in point. If we can bring development to these areas, we can also bring development to other areas”, he added.
