Govt spent N89bn on Bwari roads, schools – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, said Tinubu’s administration has expended N89bn on rehabilitation and construction of roads, schools and police stations in Bwari Area Council in the last 17 months.

He made the disclosure on Friday, while inaugurating the 5-kilometre Gaba -Tokulo road in Bwari, which was constructed by Setraco Nigeria Limited.

Wike also approved the construction of Igwu-Kawu road, as requested by the chairman of Bwari, John Gabaya.

He said the projects were initiated in line with President Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda for the people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which their hope was lost.

The minister explained that Gaba – Tokulo costs the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) not less than 7 billion, while other roads cost not less than N27billion,

According to him, all the promises made to the people most be fulfilled, saying the current administration must deliver on all the promises made.8

Wike revealed that, “This Gaba – Tokulo road costs us not less than 7 billion. Just take for example, from Dutse coming to this area, you see the total rehabilitation of entire roads, and that has cost us not less than 27 billion Naira.

*This, for this area council, the entire Ushafa War College, and all the roads in Ushafa, has cost us not less than 28 billion Naira.

“Now, in terms of education, Government Girls Secondary School, Dutse, Government Secondary School, Bwari, Government Secondary School, Ushafa which is a new one, GSS Dei dei, GSS Kubwa, GSS Jibi, all these schools have cost us not less than 27 billion.

“If you add 27 billion to 62 billion, you’re almost getting to 100 billion naira for one area council. Does it not tell you that indeed, we will now have our hope back? Before you had lost hope, until Mr. President came and said, you don’t need to lose hope, and the Renewed Hope is working”

The AUTHORITY recalled that the construction of 5-kilometre Gaba -Tokulo started in January, 2024.
