Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged the people of the state to embrace unity for the progress and development of Kogi State.
Governor Ododo made the call in Ajiolo, Dekina Local Government Area, while paying a condolence visit to the family of the State Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf Okala, following the passing of his mother and matriarch of the Okala family, Hajiya Amina Yusuf Okala.
Accompanied by top government officials to the 8th Day Fidau prayer for the late Hajiya Amina, the Governor described the visit as an opportunity to reconnect with close associates from Dekina and beyond, calling the occasion a reunion of friends.
Addressing mourners gathered to pay their last respects, Governor Ododo noted that the late Hajiya Amina had already been immortalized through the positive impact of her children on society.
A statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Ismail Isah, said the Governor urged parents to invest in the education and moral upbringing of their children to prepare them for a life of service and meaningful contributions to humanity.
He praised the late Hajiya Amina’s legacy, describing her as a mother, a confidant, and a woman dedicated to the unity and progress of Kogi State. The Governor also encouraged her family to take solace in the knowledge that she lived peacefully with her neighbors and left behind a lasting impact on her family and community.
Praying for the peaceful repose of her soul, Governor Ododo asked God to grant her children the strength to bear the loss.
Responding on behalf of the family, the Ogohi Onu Anyigba, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abu Shaibu Okolo, expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his unwavering support for the Okala family and the people of Dekina and the Igala Kingdom.
He also commended the Governor for the positive impact his administration has made within its first year in office.
