Take your studies seriously, Speaker Abbas urges Yagongwo Nursing College matriculants

Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja has urge the matriculants of Yagongwo College of Nursing Sciences, Kuje to take their studies seriously and with dedication.

The second matriculation ceremony of the College took place on Saturday, with 271 students being formally admitted into the college. The event was attended by dignitaries, including Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker, House of Representatives, National Assembly (N/Ass), Abuja, who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide (SLA), Comrade Victoria Uko.

The Speaker advised: “As you embark on your nursing studies, know that you are stepping into a noble profession that plays a crucial role in the health and well-being of our communities,” he stated. Abbas encouraged the students to uphold the values of compassion, integrity, and professionalism as they train to become outstanding healthcare providers.”

Dr. Adamu Jatau Noma, the MD/CEO of the College, highlighted the challenges facing the institution, including the need for scholarships for indigent students, construction of students’ hostels, and acquisition of more laptops and desktops for the ICT room. He also appealed for assistance in acquiring nursing/midwifery training materials, buses, and laboratory equipment, among others.

Dr. Tanko Jibrin, the Gomo of Kuje, praised the MD/CEO for establishing the college, describing him as an educationist of repute and an administrator par excellence. The royal father urged Noma to continue his good work and prayed for his success.

Mrs. Philomena Yahaya, the Chairperson, Organizing Committee, welcomed the guests and informed them that the matriculation ceremony marked the official admission of the students into the college. She advised the students to take their studies seriously and adhere to the rules and regulations of the college.

Yagongwo College of Nursing Sciences was established in 2022 and has received provisional accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and institutional accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The college has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with several hospitals and healthcare institutions in Abuja.

The matriculation ceremony marked an important milestone for the students of Yagongwo College of Nursing Sciences, as they embarked on their journey to become healthcare professionals. With the support of dignitaries and the college management, the students are poised to excel in their studies and make a positive impact in the healthcare sector.
