A group in Oshodi and Isolo Constituency in Lagos State under the umbrella of Patriotic People of Isolo, PPoI, has applauded Rep Okey Joe Onuakalusi for equitable representation in the House of Representatives, saying he is a beacon of hope for the constituents.
The Patriotic group also said Onuakalusi’s leadership,compassion and dedication to his constituents has made him a shining example of effective representation.
This was made known by the national coordinator of the group, Mazi Chucks Nwosu, in a statement, made available to House Correspondents in Abuja on Sunday.
Nwosu stressed that Rep Onuakalusi, member, representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, under the platform of the Labour Party, LP, emerged as a shining example of effective leadership and compassion, in the face of devastating floods that ravaged Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, affecting approximately, 21,862 people and causing significant economic hardship.
He said: “Overall, Rep Onuakalusi’s leadership, compassion, and dedication to his constituents, have made him a shining example of effective representation, inspiring hope and confidence in the hearts of his constituents.
“His remarkable leadership qualities have been a beacon of hope for Oshodi-Isolo constituents. His tireless efforts led to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, providing relief materials, alleviating the suffering and economic hardship, caused by the flooding.
“NEMA officials, conducted an on-the-spot assessment in collaboration with Community leaders, in Oshodi-Isolo. This joint effort enabled the agency to gather firsthand information on the extent of the damage, identify most pressing needs of the affected populations, and develop targeted interventions to alleviate their suffering.
“By engaging with Community leaders, NEMA officials were able to gain valuable insights into the local context, including specific challenges, faced by residents, existing social support structures, and the most effective channels for delivering aid. This community-centered approach ensured that the relief efforts were tailored to the unique needs of the affected populations, maximizing their impact and effectiveness.
“The assessment also highlighted the importance of collaboration and coordination among different stakeholders in responding to disasters. By working together, NEMA officials, Community leaders, and other partners were able to leverage their collective expertise, resources, and networks to deliver a more comprehensive and sustainable response to the flooding crisis.
“Ultimately, the on-the-spot assessment and subsequent relief efforts demonstrated Government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in times of crisis.
“By prioritizing the needs of affected residents and working collaboratively with community leaders, NEMA and other stakeholders helped to mitigate impact of the flooding, promote recovery, and build resilience in the face of future disasters.
“As a dedicated representative, Rep Onuakalusi has demonstrated his commitment to his constituents’ welfare, through various initiatives. His advocacy for Federal intervention in addressing the challenges faced by his constituents is commendable.
“We are proud of his selfless service and dedication to his constituents’ well-being, which are truly, inspiring. His actions have shown that elected representatives can make a positive impact in their Communities. As a member of the LP, he is committed to social democracy and welfare of the Nigerian people.”
The group further stated that the ‘Honourable Okey Joe Foundation,’ founded by Rep Onuakalusi, further demonstrates his commitment to empowering vulnerable populations adding that; “The foundation focuses on women/youth empowerment, education, health, inclusivity, human rights, and demographic mapping to uplift communities and promote positive change in Nigeria.
“On February 1st, he supervised the distribution of rice and other essential food items, provided by NEMA, as relief support for individuals affected by flooding in Oshodi-Isolo.
“This humanitarian effort was made possible through his relentless advocacy for Federal intervention in addressing challenges, faced by his constituents.”
