The Federal Capital Territory Administration under Leadership Enhancement and Development Program (LEAD-P) has begun selection of workers in all the Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) for capacity building.
Speaking at the commencement of the exercise, Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory, Mrs. Grace Adaiyilo, said the training was approved by the minister of FCT to help build the capacity of officers from grades level 10-14.
She said the program would provide them with the capacity they need to take over as the next generation of leaders, especially before becoming directors, permanent secretaries and Head of Service.
Adaiyilo called on the participants to engage actively throughout the program by embracing the opportunities for learning, networking, and personal growth that lie ahead.
According to her, the establishment of the FCT (LEAD-P) presidential cohort batch 1 was a crucial step toward ensuring there is a pool of highly skilled and capable leaders ready to take on the challenges of governing the capital territory.
On her part, acting Director, FCT Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr Jumai Ahmadu, said about 975 first set of applicants that applied online in December 2024 for the training are participating in the first stage of the exercise that is Computer Based Test (CBT).
According to her, one hundred best participants will be selected after the stages to undergo rigorous training for seven month within and outside Abuja, to help close gaps in service delivery.
She explained that the exercise which participants are not going to be randomly selected is first of it kind in the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Ahmadu said the program, which her department is providing the technical support will help in training 100 workers yearly after careful selection process.
