To boost agriculture in the North West Geopolitical Zone, the Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bank of Agriculture (BoA) to implement a N2.79 billion loan scheme. This initiative, dubbed Barau’s Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in Nigeria (BIARN), aims to raise 558 young millionaire farmers across the seven states and 186 local government councils in the zone.
The loan scheme, which is being implemented through the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), will provide N5 million loan offers to 558 young farmers, facilitating prosperity and job creation for teeming youths in the region. According to Senator Barau, this initiative is designed to complement the Federal Government’s policies on food security and food sufficiency in the country.
The Managing Director of Bank of Agriculture (BOA), Alwan Ali Hassan, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, assuring Senator Barau that the loan scheme will be well implemented and coordinated successfully. The BOA is committed to supporting the development of agriculture in Nigeria, and this partnership is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
The signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in the implementation of BIARN, which is expected to drive productivity in the agricultural sector and facilitate prosperity in the North West geopolitical zone.
