The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Kaduna State Government are ramping up efforts to combat insecurity and fast-track development in the Northwest.
Governor Uba Sani hosted a UNDP delegation at the Government House, led by renowned journalist and UN Consultant Kadaria Ahmed and UNDP Northwest Head Mr. Ashraf Usman.
Governo Sani revealed that discussions centered on the Northwest Peace, Security, and Development Framework, a bold initiative aimed at stabilizing the region, boosting economic prosperity, and tackling the root causes of conflict.
He described the initiative as “timely and strategic,” stressing that the Northwest faces an existential security threat. He reaffirmed Kaduna’s commitment to the framework, highlighting the Kaduna Peace Model, which has already restored stability in conflict-prone LGAs like Birnin-Gwari, Giwa, and Kauru.
“We’re not just talking—we’re acting. We’ve intensified citizen engagement, expanded social intervention programmes, and are aggressively fighting poverty through our Rural Transformation Programme, which is revitalizing local economies with massive infrastructure and job creation,” Sani stated.
The UNDP team commended Kaduna’s proactive steps and pledged stronger support to scale up interventions that will reshape the security and development landscape across the Northwest.
