The council administration of Oji River local government area in Enugu state led by Hon.GregvAnyaegbudike has started the reconstruction of the over one kilometer dilapidated portion of Oji River to Awgu federal road, extending from the market square at Oji junction up to the Nigerian Police College, Oji River.
The project was flagged-off equally on Wednesday April 2 as his council administration also commenced the construction of access roads to all Smart Green Schools, Hospitals, roads that will lead to the proposed farm estates in each of the 20 wards in the council area, the tourism sites and other rural communities in Oji River local government area.
Hon. Greg. Anyaegbudike said he embarked on the project of reconstructing the dilapidated portions of Oji River to Awgu federal road which also is a link to nearby states, as a measure of easing trànsport difficulties incurred by commuters plying the road on daily basis.
Speaking to newsmen in his office after the flag-off, the Oji River Council boss stressed the Oji to Awgu federal road promotes economic activities and connectivity with other towns beyond Oji River local government area and his administration cannot continue to ignore it’s current state of dilapidation.
He stated, “Though the road in question is a federal road but it is used by our people and other commuters traveling beyond Enugu state on daily basis. It is to the benefit of our people since it enhanced connectivity and promotes socio economic and commercial activities of our people and other towns beyond Enugu state. It is all about Oji- River”.
He assured that the project will be completed within 30 days by the Contactor handling the project and pleaded with commuters to use alternative route provided route for a while.
Hon Anyaegbudike pleaded forr the cooperation of the security agencies and other stakeholders to the Contractor in ensuring that the reconstruction of the dilapidated portion of Oji-Awgu road at Oji River Urban is completed within stipulated period by the contractor.
It could be recalled that Hon Anyaegbudike within his first one month in office embarked and completed the construction of a drainage that stopped the flooding of the road and pats of Oji River Urban market by run off water and erosion most especially during rainy season.
Earlier on the same day(Wednesday,April 2nd), Hon.Anyaegbudike with his Vice, Barr Seth Okolo, accompanied by some political stakeholders and the traditional ruler of Oji River Urban, Igwe Oliver Okefi, performed the flag off ceremony of constructing access roads into rural communities in all Oji River Council area,with special focus on roads leading to all the 20 Smart Green Schools in Oji River local government area under construction,the 20 Type 2 Hospitals across the 20 wards in Oji River local government area, the Farm Estates to be established in all the 20 wards in the Council areas and more.
He extolled the Enugu state Governor Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his innovative policies in the state and the opportunities and support he is providing for all the serving local government chairmen in Enugu state to replicate same in their various council areas.
Hon Anyaegbudike assured he will not fail the people oof Oji River and pleaded for the support of all and sundry.
The member representing Oji River Constituency in the state house of Assembly,Hon.Osita Ezeh, expressed gratitude to the state government for his able leadership style and innovative agenda which is springing and gingering development of the rural areas, including Oji River local government area. He urged He expressed his support to the administration of Hon.Greg.Anyaegbudike in his mission to provide access roads to all communities in Oji River local government area.
The Enugu state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Barr.Dame Ugochi Madueke,corroborated the words of Hon.Osita Ezeh and urged both political and non political stakeholders in Oji River local government area to continue to give maximum support to Governor Mbah led administration in Enugu state in his agenda to enhance socio economic development of the entire state,which is also streaming down to Oji River local government area.
The Oji River chairman of People’s Democratic Party and other dignitaries who spoke at the flag off, expressed their support to Governor Peter Mbah in his vision to transform Enugu state and the initiatives being put on ground by Hon. Greg.Anyaegbudike to fast track development of Oji River and it’s rural communities.
The traditional ruler of Oji River Urban, Igwe Oliver Okefi,who patiently witnessed the two events poured encomiums on Hon. Greg.Anyaegbudike for embarking on the project of reconstructing the dilapidated portions of Oji River to Awgu road at the heart of Oji Urban.
He stressed that the previous council chairmen avoided the laudable project which gingers economic and commercial life of the people and expressed gratitude to Hon.Greg.Anyaegbudike for taking the bulk by the horns.
Igwe Okefi also commended Hon.Anyaegbudike for other laudable projects he has started in Oji River and promised to give him all the necessary support in achieving his targeted development for Oji River,in line with what Governor Mbah is doing in Enugu state.
Other stakeholders from Oji River who witnessed the event tagged “Access Day in Oji River” by Hon. Greg.Anyaegudike were the former Solicitor General of Enugu state, Barr Emeribe, the Secretary of Oji River local government area,Barr Mrs Obuajulu, the immediate past House of Assembly member of Oji River Constituency,Hon Geoif.Mbah, the SpA political Hon Chukwudi Madueke,Members of Oji River legislative Council, the newly appointed Supervisory Councillors,among others.
