Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has expressed delight about the appointment of Abubakar Gari-Mallam, Shatiman Gwandu by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new Managing Director of the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA), describing it as well-deserved.

Speaking at a reception in Government House, Birnin Kebbi, to honour the newly appointed Managing Director, Governor Idris expressed confidence in Mallam’s ability to deliver, given his background as a retired Deputy Comptroller General of Customs and a seasoned politician.

“The essence of democracy is to serve humanity, which remains the hallmark of my administration,” the governor stated.

“The new MD is not only representing Kebbi State but the entire North West. I have no doubt he will perform excellently.”

Governor Idris reaffirmed his commitment to securing more federal appointments for Kebbi indigenes to boost the state’s development.

He also highlighted ongoing investment initiatives, including oil exploration prospects and mineral resource development.

“I recently signed a $200 million lithium processing agreement with China, which will create 45,000 jobs for Kebbi indigenes,” he revealed.

“Similarly, a $300 million cement production deal to be established in the state signed in Nigeria, will provide 75,000 jobs.”

On agriculture, Governor Idris reiterated his administration’s dedication to supporting farmers with free fertilizers, inputs, and improved seeds.

“Kebbi remains Nigeria’s leading rice producer, and we will maintain that status,” he assured.

“The security challenges in Kebbi South are now history, by God’s grace. My recent thank-you visit confirmed that peace has returned, allowing farmers to resume work.”

In response, Abubakar Mallam expressed gratitude to Governor Idris for facilitating his appointment and pledged loyalty to his administration.

“I have appointed myself as the Sarkin Yakin Kauran Gwandu to champion your re-election campaign,” he declared, promising to be a worthy ambassador of Kebbi State.

Gari-Mallam, who previously contested for the Kebbi governorship in 2007 and 2011, assured that he would not disappoint the governor and the state.

Earlier, the District Head of Ambursa, Alhaji Isah Haruna Rashid, Special Adviser on Pilgrims Matters, Alhaji Zayyanu Sanka, and the State Accountant General, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku, all commended Governor Idris for facilitating the appointment, expressing confidence in Mallam’s capability and ability to deliver.
