Senate President disavows planned rally in Akwa Ibom

By Abbanobi -Eku Onyekachi, Abuja

The office of Senate President Godswill Akpabio has distanced itself from a planned rally purportedly in support of the Senate President, slated for April 4, 2025, in Akwa Ibom.

This was contained in a press statement from Jackson Udom, Special Assistant, Media to the Senate President on Thursday.

The rally, organized by the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR), is deemed unauthorized and potentially disruptive. The Senate President urges his supporters and the people of Akwa Ibom to disregard the rally and go about their duties.

Security agencies have been directed to prevent the rally from holding.
