Governor of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawan has urged the people of his state to unite so that together, it can defeat the insecurity that has ravaged the state for over a decade. The governor who spoke at an event in the state, also charged them to cooperate with the government.
“I would like to call on all and sundry across our dear state to come together irrespective of political inclination and face the insecurity challenges so that together we can succeed in addressing the calamity. It is a collective responsibility particularly, the stakeholder,” these were the words of the governor of Zamfara, Dauda Lawan while speaking at a forum in Gusau, the capital of the state during the week.
Governor Lawan was also quoted as saying that the issue of insecurity is beyond everybody’s imagination and that making it political will not help in its address.
According to the governor, though his government inherited the problem for many years even before he became the governor of the state, there is no way he alone can bring the situation under control without the hand of the entire people of the state especially the prominent ones among them. “we cannot just fold our arms and allow the continuation of the killing of our innocent people, something must be done toward bring a lasting to this” Dauda also disclosed that time has now come when all the stakeholders and well-wishers of the state should bury all their differences, more especially the politicians who are always trying to politicize the matter, adding that the security operatives are doing their best, but non-the less, all hands of the people of the state must be on deck with a view to putting an end to the lingering insecurity which bedeviled the state for almost one and a half decade, even as he appreciate the efforts of the federal government for its concern and intervention.” We appreciate the effort of the federal government in this egard and we urge for continued intervention so that our people and by extension the whole of the north western region can be access-free to all which will also give away and other businesses as it was before.” The governor who also used the forum to congratulate the people of the state over the successful completion of the ramadan fast and subsequent eid-el-fitr celebration, explained that his administration will leave no stone unturned toward addressing not only insecurity but also all other physical challenges in the state no matter the intimidation from any quarter.
