Support Defence Ministry’s budgets, Sen Ibrahim urges global parliamentarians

By Abbanobi -Eku Onyekachi, Abuja

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, a Modern War Studies expert, has called on global parliamentarians to adopt a collaborative approach to the Ministry of Defence’s budget allocation. Speaking at the 150th inter-parliamentary meeting in Uzbekistan, he emphasized the need for support rather than investigation, citing the escalating insecurity in the 21st century.

Stressing that insecurity is likely to worsen in the 21st century if not addressed effectively, he advocated for a supportive rather than investigative approach, highlighting the importance of human life and the need to address power and insecurity issues.

The senator noted that the government’s failure to address poverty effectively will further exacerbate insecurity, emphasizing the need for efficient system and process creation to combat fraud related to security spending, just as he urged parliament to adopt a more supportive and friendly stance, rather than merely fulfilling its traditional oversight duties, to prevent inadvertently fostering insecurity.

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Nigeria, holds a doctorate in Modern Warfare and has been vocal about the need for effective security measures. His comments come as global parliamentarians gather to discuss pressing issues, including defence budgets and security concerns.
