Nigeria Bulgaria pleade continued cooperation in trade, investment

The House of Representatives Committee on Nigeria-Bulgaria has described the trade ties between the two countries as very cordial. Chairman of the committee, Munachim Alozie, made this statement during a farewell meeting held at the National Assembly Complex in honor of Ambassador Yanko Yordanov.

The lawmaker noted that Nigeria has a long history of progressive ties with Bulgaria. He praised Ambassador Yordanov’s dedication and intentional association with Nigeria, where he has become fond of local cuisine. Alozie said, “We have not come to bade him farewell, but to celebrate one who by his intentional association, inclination, and interaction have become one of us (Nigerian), who enjoys our meals specially.”

The committee aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas, in Trade and Economic Cooperation, Education and human capital development, Agriculture and food Security, Health, Energy sector, Tourism etc. And we hope to continue in exchanging more initiative and ideas towards strengthening the cooperation between us.

A trade mission to Bulgaria is scheduled from July 14 to 20, 2025, offering opportunities for investment, tourism, and trade. Alozie invited all participants to join the mission, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration.

Ambassador Yordanov expressed satisfaction with the strong ties between Nigeria and Bulgaria, citing mutually beneficial relationships spanning many decades. He highlighted cooperation in agriculture, business, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

Both nations are looking forward to building upon their achievements and identifying new areas for cooperation. Ambassador Yordanov noted Bulgaria’s hospitality and enthusiasm for continued collaboration with Nigeria.

The outgoing ambassador commended the Nigerian government and people for their support during his tenure. He described his experience as a “great privilege” and praised Nigeria’s positive endeavors.

The committee aspires to be a beacon for sustainable partnerships and development, promoting respectful, visible, measurable, responsible, and mutually beneficial collaborations between both countries.
