NSITF to adapt AI in its operations within 6 months

By Chesa Chesa

The National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has announced plans to incorporate and adapt Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its operations in a bid to modernise and improve the efficiency of the Fund.

Managing Director/Chief Executive (MD/CE) of NSITF, disclosed this on Monday during the flag-off of an awareness road show by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department of the Fund to mark the 2025 World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

For this year, the theme is “Revolutionizing Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalization at Work”, and the MD/CE was represented by the Executive Director, Finance and Investments, Adedeji Adegoke.

Addressing journalists at the NSITF headquarters in Abuja, he said the adaptation of AI into operations of the NSITF would take about six months going by the schedule of the contractors working on the digitalization project.

“In terms of AI, we are not there yet, but we are on it. Within six months, we hope to have completed our digitalising operations using AI. Our contractors are working towards achieving this”, he said.

He also stressed that “we are living through a technological renaissance that is redefining the modern workplace. Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital sensors, machine learning, and big data analytics are no longer futuristic concepts—they are now essential tools in our health and safety.

“This revolution is saving lives. It is minimizing injuries. It is restoring dignity to work. And it is aligning with NSITF’s strategic focus on prevention, protection, and productivity.”

He further announced that “we are also working on a call centre to interact realtime with our subscribers and members of the public. Our website is also being upgraded constantly to make transactions with enrollees and the public easier”.

On health and safety standards, he said: “At NSITF, safety is not negotiable. It is a management priority. We recognize that technology alone cannot guarantee safety. It is people—empowered, informed, and equipped—who make the difference. That is why our investment in digital innovation is matched

with our investment in capacity building and human capital development”.

The General Manager in charge of HSE Department, Tony Eke, added that the road show was part of the Fund’s attempt to raise awareness and showcase NSITF’s efforts towards ensure safety at workplaces, and that the Fund would not relent in this regard.
