The speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alh. Rilwanu Moriki , has denounced the factional group of the state assembly that gave ultimatum to the governor on security and governance in Zamfara state.
During a press briefing with newsmen at the premises of the House in Gusau capital of the state, the Speaker also used the opportunity to reel out the achievements of the House saying that apart from lawmaking, the House is also collaborating with the executive and the judiciary for a better Zamfara.
According to the speaker, the House which is meant to make laws is also working side-by-side with the two arms of government with a view to making sure that they meet the demand of the people they represented.
Among the bill the house deliberated and successfully passed into law were the bills establishing the community protection guard and that of the revenue board.
Others, according to Moriki, includes security trust fund procurement planning board among others. Also the house passed a law establishing state quality assurance agency and investment and public private partnership which according to the speaker have direct bearing to the people of the state.
The briefing which was not unconnected with the parallel one conducted by some protesting members as the House is still in crisis which led to the formation of another faction which held similar sitting during which it gave 30 days activation to the governor to ensure the state is secured or face impeachment.
“From inception to date, this house has been able to pass into law 43 bills are currently on the way as soon as we get another opportunity to officially sit for them.”
Speaking Moriki who disclosed and condemned the sitting of the protesting members, also described the sitting as illegal, null and void.
“Those that held that sitting as far as we are concerned are not legitimate members and they are also ignorant of the law, otherwise they would not have even thought of doing what they did, and they don’t wish the state well,” he added.
Speaking further, the speaker explained that the House was not scared or afraid of whatever those people are doing adding that, “we are all here to represent our people who elected us for the job, and that no amount of pressure from any quarter will deter us.
