The member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency ,Hon. (Engr.) Anayo Befford Onwuegbu, has thrown his weight behind the initiatives to establish special National hospitals in four centers across the country for special care on women as well as treatment of obstetrics and fistula diseases.
Hon. Anayo who is the Chairman, House Committee on Lake Chad Basin, doubles as a member of the House Committee on Speciality Healthcare.
Hon.Onwuegbu and other members of Speciality Healthcare Committee are proposing that four special National hospitals to effect such treatments should be established in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, Bauchi in Bauchi state, Benin, the Edo state capital and in Katsina, the capital of Katsina state.
The initiative seeks to address the growing need for specialized healthcare services for women, particularly in the areas of obstetrics and fistula care.
The proposed National Hospitals will provide comprehensive care, including emergency obstetric services, fistula repair and maternal health services.
This development is expected to significantly improve healthcare outcomes for women in these regions.
In addition to the National Hospitals bill, the committee deliberated on a proposal for the establishment of an Outpatient Infusion and Arthritis Management Medical Center that will provide specialized care and treatment for patients with arthritis and other related health challenges, thereby enhancing quality of life of the citizens.
The committee’s discussions will inform their recommendations to the House on the importance and feasibility of these healthcare initiatives.
