CNG mourns business mogul, Aminu Dantata, extends condolences to family, Kano State

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of billionaire businessman and renowned philanthropist, Alhaji (Dr.) Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 94.

Widely regarded as a towering figure in Nigeria’s business and humanitarian sectors, Dantata’s influence spanned decades, with notable contributions to national development and Northern Nigeria’s economic landscape.

In a statement , the CNG described his passing as a monumental loss to the nation.

The group’s National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, praised the late Dantata’s legacy as both foundational and transformative.

He said: “Through decades of pioneering investments in construction, banking, manufacturing, agriculture, oil and gas, and more, he laid the foundations for the economic growth of Northern Nigeria, creating thousands of jobs and fostering prosperity across the region.

“Beyond business, his generosity and unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes touched countless lives. From supporting education, healthcare, and community infrastructure to championing peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony, Alhaji Dantata embodied the highest ideals of public service and philanthropy.”

According to the CNG, Dantata’s life was marked by humility, wisdom, and a deep devotion to the collective good—values that will continue to serve as a source of inspiration for generations to come.

The coalition extended heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and all Nigerians mourning the revered elder statesman.

He added, “We pray Almighty Allah (SWT) grants him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this grief.”

The group also urged Nigerians to honour Dantata’s enduring legacy by embracing the principles he lived by.

“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amin,” the statement concluded.
