Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment for all.
He also promised to make the State one of the most business-friendly states in the country.
Mutfwang gave the assurance during the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) technical session and statewide town hall meeting held at the Banquet Hall, Government House little Rayfield Jos.
Recall that the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) was established in July 2016 to drive Nigeria’s business environment reform.
PEBEC’s mission is to improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria by implementing reforms that promote a more conducive business environment.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Samuel Jatau, emphasised that, “The ease of doing business has become a top priority for this administration.
“Plateau State has made significant progress in implementing actionable reforms, which has helped to attract investors and promote economic growth.
Mutfwang expressed gratitude to Plateau citizens for their prayers, support, and encouragement.
He reiterated his readiness to receive counsel and constructive advice that will enhance the state’s development
In her remarks, the Director General of PEBEC, Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, explained that the nationwide subnational tour across the 36 states and FCT was aimed at strengthening state-level ownership of reform initiatives and deepening the implementation of SABER.
According to her, “PEBEC’s mandate is to translate national policies to the subnational level, ensuring that reforms are tailored to meet the specific needs of each state”.
Also speaking, Program Leader, SABER, World Bank, Bertine Kamphuis, expressed excitement that PEBEC has prioritise the role of the private sector in its programs.
She noted that the the private sector is central to promoting economic growth and development.
Our correspondent reports that the visiting PEBEC team held two-part interactive session with stakeholders in the State.
The sessions assessed the state’s business reform progress, galvanise multi-stakeholder participation, and reaffirm the commitment of government, private sectors, and development partners towards creating a more enabling and competitive business environment.
