Dr Ezenwa Onyirimba kicking off the distribution

As part of its renewed commitment in solving the problems of the grassroots and also gain their support, the All Progressives Congress (APC) through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, has distributed fertilizers and farm tools to many cooperatives, stakeholders and selected farmers in Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency in Enugu state, popularity known as Greater Awgu.
The farm tools which comprise of fertilizers, machine sprayers and chemicals used in killing unwanted grasses, were shared to the chaimen and stakeholders of APC in the three local government areas of Aninri, Awgu and Oji River at the party office at Oji Urban,on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The largesse which came at the peak of the current farming season is for onward distribution to farmers in the various wards of Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, popularly known as Greater Awgu.
The facilitator, Dr Ezenwa .A.Onyirimba, said the initiative is devised to meet the grassroots at the point of their needs.
He said the party took cognisance of the fact that many rural farmers are in dire need of fertilizer and farming tools to increase their yield and that is why they embarked on the project.
Dr Onyirimba,who holds the position of National President,All Progressives Congress Youths and Students Council, stressed that even though he stays in Abuja, his concern for the grassroots in Greater Awgu,which is his primary constiuency moved him to deeply get involved in the project.
His words,’We received 150 bags of fertilizers, 30 cartons of herbicides and 60 knapsack sprayer. We shared to selected cooperatives, Stakeholders and farmers across Greater Awgu”.
He disclosed that the gesture is a follow up to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji’s donation of two bags of fertilizer each to every electoral ward in Enugu state,as his own support to farmers to get bumper harvests.
He stated further,” I facilitated the project.It is an addition to the efforts of our leader,Hon.Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji,who donated two bags of fertilizers, each to every ward in Enugu state. I am the first party man who is replicating the largesse in Greater Awgu”.
Dr Onyirimba also donated some bundles of uniformed wrapper to the women wing of Greater Awgu APC, stating it is for special occasions and activities of the party.
He assured that more Initiatives meant to strengthen their grassroots base and woe others into APC will follow suit.
He equally provided logistics to enable the three local government Chairmen to convey their own share of farm tools to their respective party offices,where it will be distributed on merit to the selected farmers in the various wards.
The Aninri Local Government area APC chairman, Hon. Achike Kanu, on behalf of his colleagues, expressed gratitude to Dr Onyirimba for attracting the largesse for his constituents. He assured that the farm inputs will be evenly distributed to benefit all the selected farmers in the various wards.
The APC Assistant secretary, Enugu State, Dr Walter Madu, who spoke on behalf of the state party chairman,vChief Ugoh Agballah, expressed gratitude to Dr Onyirimba for working extra ordinarily hard to facilitate the federal government largesse to his federal constiuency.
He tasked the beneficiaries to continue to highlight the projects and programmes of APC, to deepen it among the grassroots, as such they will also come on board.
He extolled the leadership qualities of the state party chairman,Chief Ugoh Agballah and the state party leader,the minister,Chief Uche Nnaji.He said that they are working tirelessly to brighten the fortunes of the party in Enugu state,assuring that in 2027 elections, APC will emerge as the ruling party in Enugu state and will no longer be addressed as the opposition party in the state.
Speaking to newsmen thereafter, the Enugu State APC Assistant woman leader ,Mrs Appolonia Ezekwere, said the gesture is the first of it’s kind among the grassroots since 2014.
She commended Dr Onyirimba for attracting the largesse and assured they will walk more of the talk this time around,in grass root mobilisation.
It was gathered that Dr Onyirimba has used his position as National President of the All Progressives Congress Youths and Students Council to endeared federal presence in Greater Awgu. He facilitated the on going construction of a National hospital at Ihe – Achi in Oji River local government area, the revitalisation of several non functional boreholes in the constituency, installation of solar lights, among others.
