Court restrains Lagos Trade Fair Board from encroaching on land allocated to private company 

Justice A.M Lawal sitting at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, has issued an interim injunction restraining Lagos Trade Fair International Management Board and others from encroaching, trespassing or interfering or possessing a disputed land, located at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Badagary Expressway, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area.

Other defendants in the claim added the Lagos Trade Fair International Management Board, are, Mrs. Vera Ndanusa, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and its Minister.

The order was given following an ex-parte application by Portman Freight Services Limited, dated June 27, 2025, through its lead counsel, Dr. D.A. Awosika (SAN).

“It is hereby ordered that an order of interim injunction restraining all the defendants, whether by themselves or through their servants, agents, from the occupation and possession of the land in dispute lying and being along Lagos International Trade Fair complex, Badagry Express Way, Amuwo Odofin Governments Area, Lagos State, Nigeria measuring in total 6.7 hectares which is properly delineated in survey plan number:- ΟΑΟ/1017/027/2021/LA and OAO/1017/026/2021/LA dated 26th of November, 2021 drawn by O.A. Oyegbola (registered surveyor) pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. 

“The claimant is to file an undertaking to pay damages to the defendants if it turns out that this order ought not to have been granted.

“The defendants are at liberty to apply to have the order set aside for good reasons,” the court declared. 

The court ordered that a hearing notice should be served on the defendants and also directed the police to provide security and maintain peace on the property.

On the return date on July 11, the court was informed that service of processes on the respondents had not  been effected, prompting further adjournment to  November 24th, 2025, for continuation of hearing.
