In a show of unity and party strength, Governors Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Usman Ododo of Kogi State paid a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, in Abuja on Tuesday.
The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise and strengthening internal collaboration among party leadership.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), described the visit as a working visit focused on monitoring the readiness of the APC’s e-registration initiative.
“We came to monitor and evaluate the extent of the e-registration exercise — what has been done. We have inspected and conducted a trip around the facilities, and we are highly impressed with what we saw. We are confident that any moment from now, our e-registration exercise will start in full force”, he said.
When asked about the status of the planned new National Secretariat of the party, Uzodimma noted briefly that “it is still work in progress,” signaling that efforts are ongoing in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive.
In response to claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that another APC-led government after the next elections would be “disastrous,” Uzodimma dismissed the comments, saying: “You called it a claim — it is their claim, not our claim. I know that there are only two parties in Nigeria: the All Progressives Congress and others.”
Governor Ododo, who accompanied Uzodimma during the visit, aligned with the statements made, saying: “We are working as a team under the leadership of Mr President, and as such the Chairman of PGF has spoken, and he has spoken our mind.”
Yilwatda, in his remarks, emphasized the cordial relationship between the party’s leadership and the Progressive Governors Forum, stating that the partnership is not only functional but exemplary. He explained that the e-registration drive will not only modernize the party’s database but also enhance strategic planning and grassroots engagement.
