The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has announced a decision to put on hold the elections in its Abuja and Lagos chapters due to ongoing crises.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) made this decision at a recent meeting held on April 8, 2025, after extensive deliberation on the prevailing circumstances.
In a statement issued by the Secretary General, Mr. Emeka Sibeudu, NEC resolved that no elections will be conducted in either chapter until further notice. Instead, NEC will visit the chapters in the near future to resolve all outstanding issues and ensure a peaceful resolution to the crises.
The organization has urged all members in Abuja and Lagos to adhere strictly to this resolution and refrain from taking any actions that may be deemed contrary to NEC’s directives.
Ohaneze Ndigbo emphasizes the importance of unity and discipline within the organization and expects all members to respect and obey NEC’s decisions.
“This approach is expected to ensure a lasting solution to the challenges facing the chapters and promote the overall interests of Ohaneze Ndigbo, he said.
