Gov. Alia condoles Benue media community

‎By Chiangi Avese, Makurdi

‎Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of two prominent members of the media community in Benue State.

They are former Vice Chairman, Benue State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Damian Achigbe, and Elder Francis Kundushima Acka, Publisher of On-Tiv International Magazine and Newspaper. The two passed away after a period of protracted sickness.

‎Gov. Alia described the late Comrade Achigbe as a fearless journalist, mentor, and advocate for developmental journalism, whom he says remained dedicated to the noble cause of the profession until his final days.

‎He noted that Elder Acka was not only a grassroots politician, leader and publisher, but was also a voice for the Tiv nation.

“Acka’s contributions to community development and the media landscape will be fondly remembered. His death is a painful loss to the people of Logo Local Government, the Tiv nation, the NUJ family, and the state at large”.

‎Gov. Alia while commiserating with the immediate families of the deceased, the NUJ Benue State Council, and the wider media community, prayed God Almighty to grant the departed souls eternal rest and to comfort all who mourn these irreplaceable losses.
