The APC Great Family Group has condemned a two-week ultimatum issued to the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, calling for his resignation or face mass protests across the country.
The ultimatum was given by the APC Youth Solidarity Network (APC-YSN), which accused Yilwatda of poor leadership and presiding over the party’s decline.
In a press statement, the APC Great Family Group described the ultimatum as uncalled for, uncouth, and lacking merit.
The group’s convener, Habu Ali, stated that the youth faction likely feels intimidated by Yilwatda’s growing status.
The APC Great Family Group noted that Yilwatda has been working to harvest new members into the party and that the National Secretary has been effectively running the party’s affairs in his absence.
“Does the National Chairman’s leadership style not demonstrate the true tenets of democracy by handing over to the Secretary when he is not around?
“The issue of Plateau State should not be used to generalize the party’s affairs.
“Is the youth faction intimidated by new entrants into the party or the National Chairman’s growing status
They urged the youth faction to support Yilwatda and give him time to lead the party.
The APC Great Family Group noted that Yilwatda has been working to harvest new members into the party and has been visiting various states, including Katsina, Kaduna, Enugu, Plateau, Owerri, and soon Bayelsa and Taraba.

“We are surprised that Yilwatda who is less than 3 months in office is the one being accused of neglecting APC staff, especially junior employees.
“APC Youth Solidarity Network (APC-YSN) who ever is behind them should join the National Chairman to build our party.
“We should give our new National Chairman the time to lead the party and not suffocate him with selfish personal issues.
“Our National Chairman has completely keyed into the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, we should not distract him,” APC Great Family added.
