Dr Emmanuel Ezeh accuses Rep Ogah of fueling tension, meddling in Izhi affairs

The political atmosphere in Ebonyi State has grown more charged as Labour Party candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Dr. Emmanuel Ezeh, has raised fresh allegations against Hon. Chinedu Ogah of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, accusing him of intruding into Izhi political matters and thwarting justice.

Ezeh alleged that Ogah played a role in securing bail for two men accused of threatening his life and later presented what he termed a misleading settlement narrative before security agencies.

The Labour Party candidate questioned Ogah’s persistent involvement in Izhi issues despite being elected to represent another constituency, wondering why the lawmaker surfaces whenever there are threats or plots against him. He said his reconciliation conditions — including a public apology from the suspects — were disregarded, accusing Ogah of deliberately misinforming the police.

Ezeh expressed disappointment over what he described as a betrayal, recalling that he had stood by Ogah during his political battles in 2019.

After what he described as a failed attempt at an Alternative Dispute Resolution process, Ezeh insisted that those alleged to have issued threats must face due legal consequences. He disclosed that his legal team has been instructed to petition the Speaker of the House of Representatives, accusing Ogah of obstructing justice and abusing legislative privilege. He added that if there is no demonstration of sincerity by November 17, he will escalate the legal process.

Ezeh further urged Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru to respond to claims purportedly made by Ogah that his actions had the governor’s backing.

While noting that he does not believe the governor sanctioned the interference, he maintained that Nwifuru must publicly clarify the situation to prevent rising tensions.

He warned that the governor’s silence could send the wrong signal and called on him to distance himself from what he described as Ogah’s “theatrics” while ensuring justice is upheld.

In a separate statement titled “Et Tu Brute? Even You, Comrade Chinedu Ogah?”, Ezeh portrayed Ogah’s actions as deceptive and an act of betrayal, insisting he would not be intimidated or silenced. He said the unfolding events must be documented for posterity, stressing that although he did not go in search of conflict, he will not retreat from the pursuit of justice.

The situation has further heightened political tensions in Ebonyi State, with analysts suggesting that the anticipated petition to the House of Representatives may deepen divisions among political actors in the coming days.
