Gov. Ododo mourns late Etsu Bassa Nge, Alhaji Abu Ali

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended heartfelt condolences over the death of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abu Ali, the Etsu of Bassa Nge Kingdom and former Military Governor of Bauchi State.

In a message conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor described the revered ruler as a paternal figure and a steadying influence whose wisdom and leadership greatly advanced peace, unity, and development in both Kogi State and the nation.

Governor Ododo said the news of the monarch’s passing was met with deep sadness and reflected on Alhaji Abu Ali’s distinguished life of service, discipline and dedication to the wellbeing of his people, both as a traditional ruler and as a respected military officer.

“I recall the dignified and majestic leadership of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abu Ali, whose wise counsel and unwavering commitment to the unity of our state consistently provided guidance and strength to our people. His selfless service and towering presence will be deeply missed, even as we submit to the will of Almighty Allah and give thanks for a life lived in service to humanity,” he stated.

He praised the late Etsu as a symbol of outstanding leadership, noting that his reign brought remarkable stability and growth to the Bassa Nge Kingdom.

Governor Ododo prayed for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and encouraged his family, the Bassa Nge Kingdom, and all those mourning to find solace in the enduring legacy of humility, wisdom and service he leaves behind.

Alhaji Abu Ali, a retired Brigadier General, served as Military Governor of Bauchi State from September 1990 to January 1992. He passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 82.
