Traditional rulers in Akwa Ibom State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for re-election in 2027.
The monarchs, comprising paramount rulers, clan, village, and family heads, made the declaration at a rally at Ikot Ekpene township stadium, citing the trio’s developmental strides.
The Itai Afe Annang, paramount traditional ruler and leader of Afe Annang, Obong Blaise Awakama, said the traditional rulers gathered to recognize the good deeds of their distinguished sons. Awakama noted that President Tinubu had transformed Lagos State and implemented economic reforms benefiting states and local governments.
The traditional rulers acknowledged Senator Akpabio’s contributions as governor, Senate Minority Leader, and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, citing projects like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) headquarters. They also praised Governor Eno’s efforts in bringing peace and development to Akwa Ibom State.
Obong Awakama said the traditional rulers couldn’t ignore the trio’s good governance and were endorsing them for re-election. The chairman of Akwa Ibom state traditional rulers Council, Akuku Saviour Sylvester Udofia, said the endorsement recognized their proven leadership and good governance.
The traditional rulers unanimously adopted the motion to support Tinubu, Akpabio, and Eno. Governor Eno thanked the monarchs for their unprecedented endorsement, while Senator Akpabio assured the traditional rulers that President Tinubu was working to improve the lives of Nigerians.
Akpabio urged the traditional rulers to sensitize their subjects to register and get their permanent voters’ cards for the 2027 elections. He promised Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district would double their votes for the trio.
The endorsement represents the collective decision of the traditional rulers council, promoting peace, unity, and good governance. The monarchs pledged to take the message home and mobilize support for Tinubu, Akpabio, and Eno.
The rally demonstrated the traditional rulers’ appreciation for the trio’s efforts and their commitment to supporting their re-election. The event was attended by Paramount Rulers, Clan, Village, and Family Heads, and their spouses.
The royal fathers’ endorsement is seen as a significant boost to the trio’s re-election bids, showcasing their support among key stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State.
The 2027 general elections are expected to be a crucial test of the trio’s popularity and the impact of their policies on Nigerians.
