By Celestine Ihejirika, JalingoTaraba State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to provide quality and affordable education through massive reforms in the tertiary sector.
State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon Dr. Mike Dio Jen stated this during a visit of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Jalingo.
Dr Mike Dio assured the resource verification team that the State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas is making frantic efforts to revamp the State’s Education Sector.
The National Board for Technical Education Team who are in the state polytechnic campus to begin major accreditation exercise, the commissioner noted, said gov Kefas has introduced key reforms to ensure education receives its rightful priority.
He further confirmed that with the Governor’s full support, all requirements for accreditation of the 29 programs have been met.
In a welcome address, the Rector of the State Polytechnic, Dr Amos Agbu commended Gov. Kefas for his consistent backing.
He expressed optimism that the institution will scale through the process, restating the school’s focus on providing quality training in science, technology, engineering and mathematics to secure the future of Taraba Youth.
In a remark, NBTE team leader Hajiya Fatima Kabiru Umar and zonal director north-east of the Board Abba Mohammad Danmowa lauded gov Kefas for prioritizing education.
Dr. Fatima stated that NBTE exercise has gone digital in line with globalization standards.
She commended management of the Polytechnic for aligning with the NBTE that has helped to increase enrolment of students to be better citizens.
The team leader also gave a pat on the back of Gov. Agbu Kefas for providing funds for the exercise and for boosting infrastructure of the Institution.
On its part, the North-East zonal director of NBTE Abba Mohammad called on Taraba State Government to provide more funds for the Institution to effectively carry out its programs.
He emphasized that the exercise was not meant to watch-hunt any academic sector or Institution but to ensure standard process in line with the current system on education world over.
