Kalu made the assertion on Friday while briefing journalists shortly after the inauguration of the 138-member APC National Campaign Council for the FCT Area Council election in Abuja.

The deputy speaker, who is serving as Secretary of the campaign council chaired by Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said the party had repositioned itself to reclaim political dominance in the nation’s capital.

“It will no longer be mentioned that APC lost election in Abuja. That was in the time past. We are about rewriting history,” Kalu declared.

He pledged to mobilise residents of the FCT, particularly the Igbo community, to deliver massive votes for the ruling party in the forthcoming polls.

“My people that I love so much — the Igbo people who love me — will not allow me to be ashamed, knowing fully well that I am at the helm of affairs to ensure that we harvest the bulk vote of the Igbo communities in Abuja for the APC,” he said.

Kalu attributed his optimism to what he described as the visible achievements of the administration led by President Bola Tinubu, noting that governance under the APC has significantly improved infrastructure and grassroots development in the FCT.

“Under the government of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there is a great difference from what it used to be and what it is at the moment,” he said, while also commending FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for impacting both urban and rural communities.

“These are our campaign tools. Beyond posters and radio jingles, we are taking tangible evidence of development to the people. The facts speak for themselves. You can see, touch and feel the dividends of democracy,” Kalu added.

He appealed to residents to vote for APC candidates in the six chairmanship positions and 68 councillorship seats to enable the party’s development blueprint to be fully implemented across the area councils.

Earlier, while inaugurating the campaign council, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, charged members to work relentlessly toward securing total victory for the party.

Yilwatda expressed confidence in the leadership of the council under AbdulRazaq, describing the team as capable and battle-ready. He also announced the appointment of Governors Hope Uzodimma, Mai Mala Buni and Mohammed Umar Bago as co-chairmen of the council.

“Our campaign is not selective. It is ongoing across communities, cutting across tribes and regions. Governors from every geopolitical zone are engaging directly with the people. We are mobilising more than any other party, and we are confident of victory,” Yilwatda said.

In his remarks, AbdulRazaq described the assignment as both a responsibility and an opportunity to deepen democratic dividends for FCT residents.
