Group Hails Tinubu, First Lady, Seyi Over Grassroots-Focused Governance

A coalition of civil society organisations operating under the Grassroots Mobilisation Initiative (GMI) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Mr. Seyi Tinubu for what it described as a governance style anchored on grassroots engagement in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a letter sent to the President at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, the coalition applauded what it called the “First Family style” of governance, noting that the approach has brought leadership closer to people at the grassroots level.

The letter, which was signed by GMI National Coordinator Samaila Musa, also received endorsement from the Democracy Watch Initiative (DWI) and the Congress of Nigerian Youths and Civil Society Organizations (CONYSO).

According to the coalition, the effectiveness of the current administration is driven by what it described as a “three-dimensional approach” involving the leadership direction of the President, the humanitarian outreach of the First Lady, and youth mobilisation efforts spearheaded by Seyi Tinubu.

Musa said: “As active observers of our democracy, we have noted that the strength of this administration lies in its three-dimensional approach: the visionary leadership of the President, the compassionate outreach of the First Lady, and the energetic grassroots mobilization of the youth.

“The President: Visionary Architect of the Renewed Hope Agenda Mr. President, we salute your courage in steering the ship of state through essential reforms. The transition from stabilization in 2025 to Acceleration in 2026 is visible in our communities.

“From the renewed hope ward development programme to the massive infrastructure projects under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates initiative, your administration is proving that policy can indeed translate into dignity and jobs for the grassroots.”

The coalition also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her humanitarian activities through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), describing her as a “mother of the nation and a catalyst for grassroots development.”

He said the First Lady’s programmes — including interventions aimed at addressing child malnutrition and the EmpowerHer774 initiative — have brought relief and empowerment to millions of Nigerians, particularly women and vulnerable groups.

The group further pointed out that her recent call on the wives of the 36 state governors to strengthen the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative at the grassroots reflects her dedication to decentralised development.

Musa added, “By breaking the barrier of “VIP elitism” and engaging directly with the youth from “area boys” to tech entrepreneurs, he has reclaimed the streets for democracy.

“The City Boy Movement (CBM) has evolved into a permanent bridge for development. Whether through the Noella Foundation, the appointment of strategic zonal coordinators, or the recent establishment of the CBM Women Wing, Mr. Ṣeyi Tinubu has ensured that the youth are not just spectators, but active stakeholders in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“His humility, noted since the days he personally pasted campaign posters, remains a source of inspiration for grassroots mobilisers nationwide. Mr. President, the GMI, DWI, and CONYSO stand in total solidarity with this “Power Circle” of service.

“This synergy ensures that while the President designs the future, the First Lady protects the vulnerable, and the City Boy Movement mobilizes the vanguard.”

The coalition urged the administration to maintain what it described as an “open-door style of governance” that keeps government leadership closely connected with citizens at the grassroots level.
