The Kaduna state Government has been urged to constitute a standing committee on reconciliation as a measure to reduce dispute and decongest courtrooms across the state.
The appeal was made by the Director, Center for Qur’anic and Arabic Studies, Kaduna State University (KASU), Dr. Yaya Abdullahi at the closing ceremony of the 31st annual Ramadan lecture organised by the Federation of Muslim Women in Nigeria (FOMWAN).
Speaking on the topic, “Importance of Reconciliation in Marriage, Business and Family”, he said through reconciliation, many disputes could be avoided, “hence the need for a standing committee on reconciliation.”
According to him, “The main focus of the lecture is on how to reconcile the Muslim Umah especially a lot of disputes that are being faced in marriage, business and in the family. It is unfortunate that people related by blood who do not relate with each other over an unresolved dispute.
“The lecture examined the important verses and traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on reconciliation and how he encouraged the application of reconciliation in the daily lives of Muslims to avoid dispute.”
He called the attention of religious organisations and the government to join hands to address the issue of dispute and promote reconciliation as an effective mechanism for development.
In her welcome address, the Amirah, FOMWAN, Kaduna state, Nafisat Musa Isah noted that FOMWAN remains at the forefront of empowering women, strengthening families, and supporting community development.
She however disclosed that the association successfully hosted the 40th FOMWAN Annual National Conference and Anniversary from 19th – 24th August 2025 with theme – “Empowering Muslim Women in the Face of Climate Change: Building Resilience, Sustainability and Community Development.” which had in attendance delegates from all 36 states and the FCT as well as International guests from United Kingdom, Ghana, and Niger.
On future plans, she said the association aims to build a permanent office complex to improve operational efficiency, expand the FOMWAN Hospital to include additional departments and improve patient care.
She appreciated the patrons of the association for their unwavering support and guidance and also commend the dedication of all FOMWAN members who continue to work tirelessly in making our programs impactful and successful.
