From Ifeoma Ejiofor Nnewi

An Obstetrician Gynecologist at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Prof.Osita Umeononihu has called on Governor Charles Soludo to declare a state of emergency on the energy sector in the state.

Prof Umeononihu said that the need to take such radical step has become imperative so as to assuage the sufferings of people who depend on energy to keep their businesses alive.

Prof. Umeononihu who noted that the power sector and issues concerning the national grid are on the exclusive list of the federal government, added that Gov Soludo should make the necessary contacts to arrest the deplorable trend.

He lamented that for over three months now, the power supply to Anambra State has dropped abysmally to about not more than ten hours of light in a month.

Describing energy as the bedrock of all business enterprises, he wondered how people who depend on steady electricity supply for their livelihood can survive under incessant power failure.
