The Member representing Izzi West State Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Abiri Godwin Abiri, has continued the disbursement of scholarship awards to students in his constituency, numbering over Fourty beneficiaries, amounting to over seven million naira.

The event, which took place at his Ogbagharu village, Ndiechi Ezza Inyimagu Community in Izzi LGA, equally witnessed the donation of school bands and the inauguration of a four-classroom block built by Godwin Abiri for Ogbagharu Community Primary School.
Abiri thanked the State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for providing better opportunities for Ebonyi people to thrive, describing the establishment of two universities, including the ICT University Oferekpe, as one of the best things that have happened to people in the area and Ebonyi State in general.
The lawmaker stated that his decision to invest in education was to ensure that benefiting students do not experience interruptions due to financial difficulties in their academic pursuits. He also advised students who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
He appreciated the Godwin Abiri Scholarship Foundation (GASF) for discharging their duties creditably and promised to increase the number of beneficiaries under the scheme in the near future.
Abiri maintained that investment in education outlives a generation, adding that he is committed to sustaining the program for as long as possible. However, he cautioned beneficiaries against complacency in their academic work, noting that poor performance could lead to disqualification.
Speaking also, the Chairman of the Godwin Abiri Foundation, Paulinus Alegu, described Abiri as an exceptional leader whose close relationship with the people enables him to understand and address their needs.
The Chairman of the occasion and member of the Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission, Chris Uchaji, commended the lawmaker for the laudable initiative, especially at a challenging time, and urged the students to justify the gesture.
Also speaking, the former Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Chief Godwin Nwogbaga, and the traditional ruler of Ndegu Ezza Inyimagu Community, Eze Linus Nwizi, appreciated Hon. Abiri for fulfilling his campaign promises and wished him a successful second tenure.
Other stakeholders who contributed, lauded and commended Abiri for his commitment to his constituents and called on other leaders to emulate his example, while advising the beneficiaries to take their studies more seriously.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Chairmen from the seven wards of Izzi West Constituency, alongside the APC Local Government Area Executives, led by APC Ward Chairman of all the Chairmen, Chief Sunday Nwofoke, moved a motion for the endorsement of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second tenure in office. The motion was seconded by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Library Development, Barr. Pius Nwoga Abiri, who described the Governor as aligned with the aspirations of Ebonyi people at all times.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Master Christian Nwoga and Miss Fidelia Oshim expressed gratitude to their benefactor and pledged to remain dedicated to their studies.
Over seven million naira was disbursed to the beneficiaries by the lawmaker.
