Operatives of the Bauchi state police command have arrested one 25-years-old Alhaji Muhammad Umar, alias “jijji”, along with his accomplices, in connection with alleged theft of a motorcycle in Alkaleri LGA, of Bauchi State.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the motorcycle belonged to a deceased victim, in Gwaram town of the LGA.
It said acting covertly on a report made in Alkaleri police division on 7th March 2026, the police arrested the key suspect, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, alias “jijji” on 19th June 2026, while in possession of the the said motorcycle.
“Subsequently, during interrogation, the suspect mentioned two other accomplices in connection with the crime. In a swift follow-up operation, detectives also arrested 45-years-old Usman M. Gidado and 35-years-old Danladi Yakubu, alias “Pagaj”, all of Gwaram town, where the offence was committed”, the statement said.
While stating that the motorcycle was recovered as an exhibit during the operation, the statement added that the three suspects and the recovered motorcycle have been transferred to the SCID, Bauchi, for discrete and thorough investigation, after which they will be charged to court.
The CP, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims at all times.
