President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APac) have condoled with the party’s National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, over the death of his mother, Alhaja Sidikat Abake Basiru, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 92.
In a condolence message issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed heartfelt sympathy to Senator Basiru and his family during the period of mourning.
The President commended the late matriarch for her discipline, sense of responsibility, and dedication to raising children grounded in integrity, faith, selfless service, and discipline.
According to President Tinubu, Senator Basiru’s contributions to national development and the growth of the APC reflect the quality of upbringing he received from his mother.
“The loss of a loving mother is a profound moment of grief. While death is an inevitable part of life, the pain of losing a parent is deeply felt and leaves an enduring void,” the President said.
He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljanah Firdaus and comfort Senator Basiru, members of the family, friends, and loved ones during the difficult time.
The President also urged the bereaved family to take solace in the exemplary life lived by the deceased and the enduring legacy she left behind.
Similarly, the APC described the late Alhaja Basiru as a devout Muslim, a woman of virtue and compassion, and a revered matriarch who lived a life defined by faith, sacrifice, and selfless service.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party said the late matriarch nurtured a family rooted in strong moral values, discipline, and the fear of Allah.
The party noted that her wisdom, exemplary character, and religious devotion were clearly reflected in the life and remarkable public service record of Senator Basiru and her other accomplished children.
On behalf of the National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee, party leaders, members, and supporters, the APC extended its deepest condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family.
The party also prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking for the forgiveness of her shortcomings, acceptance of her righteous deeds, and eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
