FCT: When government delivers honestly, people respond with trust – Tinubu

By Daniel Tyokua

President Bola Tinubu has said that when government delivers on its promises with honesty, citizens respond with trust and confidence.

The President made the remark on Tuesday during the inauguration of the newly completed 13-kilometre Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji Road in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for implementing his administration’s directive to extend development beyond the city centre to rural communities.

He said Wike had demonstrated commitment to opening up the area councils through critical infrastructure, thereby bridging the gap between urban and rural development.

The President urged residents and beneficiaries of the project to take ownership of the road by keeping drainage channels free of debris and reporting acts of vandalism.

According to him, the road will improve access to farms, stimulate businesses, and create better opportunities for the education and future of children in the benefiting communities.

Tinubu also praised the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and the entire Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) team for their dedication to the successful execution of the project.

“I also commend the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and the entire FCTA family. From supervision and community engagement to quality control, you have worked as one team.

“This road is proof of what happens when a team is focused on results, not excuses. Let me say this plainly: the era of starting projects only to abandon them is over.

“We will fund, we will finish, and we will maintain. From city expressways to rural access roads, every naira of public money must translate into value for the citizens.

“When government delivers honestly, people feel it, and they respond with trust. Wike, you have earned us that trust here. I salute your vision and passion to deliver,” the President said.
