Four Suspects In Bauchi Police Net Over Sexual Assault On minors, CP reaffirms zero tolerance for child abuse

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police,CP, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance for child abuse following the arrest of four suspects over alleged sexual assault on minors in four LGAs of the state.

Mr. Aliyu who condemned the acts in strong terms, described them as inhuman and unacceptable.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting women and children, assuring that the suspects will be diligently prosecuted.

The CP urged parents, guardians and school authorities to be vigilant and promptly report any cases of abuse to the nearest police station.

A statement from the police command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said that the incidents occurred in Bauchi, Darazo, Shira and Itas-gadau LGAs, of the state, and were reported between 19th and 26th June 2026.

It said that a complainant from Wuntin-dada along Jos road, Bauchi, reported that on 19th June 2026, 27-years-old Abdullahi Iliyas, allegedly lured his 9-year-old sister and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

Also, a 37-year-old man, staff of general hospital, Darazo, reported that one 28-years-old Isiyaku Ibrahim, aka, Malam Abba, a volunteer staff of IQRA integrated academy, Unguwar Dakomazo, allegedly lured and sexually assulted his 10-year-old daughter in a classroom, between 12 noon and 1:30 pm of 4th June 2026 and 19th June 2026, respectively, adding that the suspect threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.

Furthermore, around 3:30 pm of 26th June 2026, a 35-year-old resident of Zubo village in Shira LGA, reported that his age mate, one 35-year-old Adamu Hassan, of same address, allegedly had carnal knowledge of his 8-year-old daughter and gave her #50.

In another development over a case of sodomy, a 38-year-old resident of Gulmo in Itas-gadau LGA, reported that at about 8:30 am of 25th June 2026, one 18-year-old Mohammed Suleiman, of Unguwar Mu’azu, Doguwa, Yana town, allegedly took his 4-year-old son into a room and sexually assulted him.

Police operatives were, subsequently, deployed to the scenes, arrested all the suspects, evacuated the victims to the police clinic Bauchi and general hospital Shira/Yana for medical attention.

After conclusion of preliminary investigation, the cases were transferred to the state criminal investigation department, SCID, Bauchi, for discrete investigation and prosecution.
