The Jakande Estate District Headquarters of the Foursquare Gospel Church has announced plans for its 12th Annual District Convocation, scheduled to hold from August 28 to 30, 2026, with the theme, “I See the Lord.”
The three-day programme is expected to attract pastors, church leaders and members from the district’s approximately 40 churches, with organisers projecting an attendance of more than 1,000 participants.
The convocation is expected to combine worship, fellowship, thanksgiving, evangelism and empowerment, while providing an opportunity for members of the district to celebrate God’s faithfulness and prepare for the new church year.
Speaking ahead of the event, the District Overseer, Rev. Adekemi Gbadebo, described the convocation as an opportunity for participants to experience divine manifestation and encounter God in different areas of their lives.
Gbadebo said the theme, “I See the Lord,” was a call for believers to experience the presence and power of God both in their individual lives and within the church.
According to him, the programme would be a gathering of divine manifestation and encounter, with participants expected to seek God for healing, salvation, revival and answers to their needs.
“It’s a convocation of divine manifestation, of divine encounter, of experiencing the wonders of God in our lives as individuals and as a district,” he said.
“Our expectation is that as people come, they will encounter God for healing, for salvation, for revival, for whatever thing they are expecting God to do in their lives. They will encounter God.”
The District Overseer said the convocation would also remind Christians of the ultimate purpose of their faith, noting that believers should not only seek to experience God on earth but also prepare for eternity.
He said the gathering would provide an opportunity for members to worship and honour God, celebrate His faithfulness throughout the previous year and look forward to another year of divine manifestation.
‘God Wants Us to Prioritise Him’
Gbadebo also spoke about his emergence as District Overseer around the period of the annual convocation, describing it as an indication of God’s timing rather than a pre-planned development.
“God is the owner of times and seasons. It wasn’t planned that way, but God in His own goodness planned it that way and made it so,” he said.
He pledged that his administration would prioritise God in the activities of the district and urged members to similarly make God the centre of their individual lives and churches.
“I have set the Lord always before me. God wants us to prioritise Him. We want to prioritise God, make God number one, because He’s the beginning and the end,” he said.
The District Overseer also commended his predecessor, Rev. Dapo Longe, and his wife for laying what he described as a strong foundation for the district.
He said the current administration would build on the achievements recorded under the previous leadership while seeking to advance the work of the district.
Preparations Underway
The District Secretary, Rev. Percy Adekanle, disclosed that preparations for the convocation were already in progress, with the organising committee and district leadership working together to ensure a successful programme.
Adekanle said the convocation was more than a spiritual gathering, describing it as an opportunity for pastors, leaders and members to fellowship, celebrate God’s faithfulness and prepare for the new church year, which runs from July 2026 to June 2027.
He disclosed that the district currently has about 40 churches and expressed confidence that members would participate in large numbers.
“We expect a minimum of over a thousand people. By the grace of God, we are working towards that to make them comfortable and to make them happy,” he said.
Four Churches to Receive Evangelism Equipment
The Chairman of the 12th Annual Convocation, Dr. Ohi Akpengbe, said the organising committee had received strong support from the district, members and Kingdom Partners.
Akpengbe disclosed that one of the initiatives being planned around the convocation was the provision of megaphones to selected churches to strengthen their evangelism activities.
According to him, four churches would receive the equipment during the convocation as part of efforts to support their outreach programmes and enable them to reach more people with the gospel.
The chairman also called for greater attention to publicity and media promotion of future convocations, stressing that effective publicity could increase participation and attract more Kingdom Partners to support the work.
He further suggested that the convocation should provide an avenue for empowering members whose businesses were facing difficulties.
Akpengbe advocated financial support for small business owners, noting that even modest interventions could make a significant difference in the lives and livelihoods of beneficiaries.
He said the theme of this year’s convocation had also become personally significant to him, recounting what he described as experiences of God’s intervention in his business and personal life.
He urged members and participants to embrace the message of “I See the Lord,” expressing confidence that those who genuinely seek God would experience His blessings.
Kingdom Partners Contributions Near N1m
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Kingdom Partners and Children Coordinator of Jakande District Headquarters Church, Bro. Kunle Bilau, said the Kingdom Partners initiative had, over the past 12 years, provided a platform for individuals who believe in the work of God to contribute towards the success of the annual convocation.
Bilau disclosed that contributions from Kingdom Partners had already reached close to N1 million ahead of this year’s event, with more donations expected before the convocation.
He explained that the initiative was founded on the belief that individuals who support the work of God would also be beneficiaries of God’s blessings.
Looking beyond the annual convocation, Bilau said the Kingdom Partners programme would be expanded in subsequent years to support humanitarian and evangelism projects within the community.
He listed proposed initiatives to include hospital outreaches, food outreaches and empowerment programmes aimed at helping people acquire skills and improve their livelihoods.
Bilau urged more people to join the Kingdom Partners initiative, stressing the importance of deploying available resources to support vulnerable people and advance the work of God.

The 12th Annual District Convocation is expected to provide a platform for worship, fellowship, thanksgiving, evangelism and community-oriented initiatives as the Jakande Estate District Headquarters begins another year of service and ministry.
