The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced scheduled annual preventive maintenance on two power transformers at its Sagamu Transmission Substation.
The maintenance exercise, which began on Thursday, September 3, 2026, will continue on Friday, September 4, 2026, with work scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days, TCN said in a statement signed by its Management on Thursday.
TCN said the exercise involves routine maintenance on the T1 and T2 30MVA 132/33kV power transformers to ensure their optimal performance, reliability and continued efficient operation.
According to the company, the maintenance work will temporarily affect electricity supply to some customers within the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) franchise area.
The company explained that IBEDC customers supplied through the T1 30MVA 132/33kV power transformer, including consumers in REAL and Sagamu, are currently affected by the maintenance exercise.
Similarly, customers supplied through the T2 30MVA 132/33kV power transformer, including CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock, will experience an interruption in electricity supply on Friday, September 4, during the maintenance period.
TCN said the temporary disruption was necessary to enable its maintenance crew to carry out routine checks and other preventive maintenance activities on the transformers.
The company assured electricity consumers that the exercise was aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of power supply in the affected areas.
TCN apologised to customers for any inconvenience the temporary interruption in electricity supply might cause.
