Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Friday inaugurated the national headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mrs. Tinubu charged members of the movement to engage Nigerians respectfully, listen to their concerns and communicate the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration as they seek support for the president.
The First Lady said door-to-door campaigning was an important platform for connecting with citizens, explaining government policies and communicating the benefits of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She said the new headquarters would serve as a coordination centre for developing campaign ideas and disseminating the administration’s message of shared prosperity to households across the country.
Mrs Tinubu commended the movement’s convener and grand patron, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and other members for their commitment to grassroots mobilisation.
She urged campaigners to reach out to Nigerians across political divides, stressing that every citizen deserved to be heard and valued.
According to her, the movement must communicate messages of hope, peace, unity and development while highlighting what the administration considers its achievements.
“A message must consistently resonate hope, peace, unity, and development, especially the impactful progress the Tinubu administration has made so far,” she said.
The First Lady also urged members to explain the government’s economic reforms and emerging employment opportunities, particularly those available to young Nigerians.
She said the country was transitioning from implementing reforms to realising their benefits, citing developments in artificial intelligence, robotics and electric vehicles as areas creating new opportunities.
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who also spoke at the event, described the movement as a platform for strengthening grassroots engagement, promoting national unity and mobilising support for President Tinubu’s second term.
Akpabio commended Tompolo and the movement’s national coordinator, Comrade Sunday Asuku, for establishing a campaign structure focused on promoting the president’s policies.
He disclosed that the movement had visited 14 states, adding that members were already conducting door-to-door campaigns in states including Sokoto and Borno.
“When you go from door to door, do not merely seek political support. Carry a message of the hope of the Renewed Hope of this President to them,” he said.
In a goodwill message, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, commended Tompolo for establishing the movement.
Tompolo, in his remarks delivered through the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Kestin Pondi, reiterated his support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
He said the movement had taken its campaign to 14 states and planned to extend its mobilisation to the remaining states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Tompolo argued that President Tinubu deserved a second term because of what he described as the impact of the administration’s difficult economic decisions on the country’s economy and governance.
Describing the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters by the First Lady as a defining moment, he said the facility would strengthen the movement’s efforts to reach households, wards, communities, markets and places of worship.
“This is more than the opening of an office. It is the opening of a new front in the effort to carry the message of Renewed Hope to every Nigerian,” he said.
He added that the movement intended to mobilise support for Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress across the country.
