Ahead of the swearing in of the governor- elect of Anambra State Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the State chapter of the Intra Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has assured the incoming governor of a good working relationship
The State Chairman of IPAC, Hon Uche Ugwoji, who gave the assurance in a chat with NNS at his office in Awka observed that Soludo was interested in widening the scope of governance as against the system of winner takes all by previous administrations.
According to him, IPAC is ready to leverage on such scope to make a more meaningful contributions to the progress of Anambra State.
He added, “IPAC is an advisory organisation with intent and purposes to advise government as well as political parties where and when necessary, but we have not been able to unleash our intent and purposes to satisfactory level owing to the system of winner takes all by successive administrations and leaders of political parties. But from the hand writing on the wall, the issue of winner takes all in Anambra will be consigned to the bench under Soludo and IPAC is ready to work with him”
On the issue of zoning and rotation of power ahead of the 2023 elections, particularly the clamour from the people of the Southeast geopolitical zone to have the political parties zone their Presidential tickets to the Southeast, the IPAC boss who is also the State Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) said that IPAC was in a better position to advise political parties on zoning but IPAC was not being consulted for advice.
He said that the clamour for the Southeast geopolitical zone to produce the next President of Nigeria after the expiration of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 was well justified contending that “it is either they concede the Presidency to the Southeast or allow Nigeria to be Restructured or let there be a referendum to decide if the country has to split or still remain one because it is not good for the Southeast as a people to continue to face marginalization while there are available options to address their grievances”.
