From Enyinna Omoke, Abakaliki

Outgoing Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State, has attended a special thanksgiving service to thank God for graces granted to him as Governor in the past eight years.

The special thanksgiving took place at the Christ Embassy Church, Mile 50, Abakaliki, Sunday.

Governor Umahi said he had reasons to thank God for the grace in completing his tenure in good health.

“I am delighted to be back to my church, it has been quite a long time but I am back.

“Let me make it clear that this Church was not built when I was Deputy Governor or Governor, it was built when I was not yet a government official.

“Today is for me to thank God, I am very happy that today the projects we initiated are still going on even as we speak, all the projects have all been paid for.

“My heart is full of gratitude to God and man. Ingratitude is the beginning of the failure of man, so remain very grateful to God.

“The Hallmark of our administration is fulfilled, have I done everything right? No, only God will do it right.”

Governor Umahi urged the incoming Governor to disregard gossips in order not to be distracted in the business of governance.
The Governor appreciated the Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi for her contributions to the spiritual growth of the state.
The Pastor in charge of Christ Embassy Church, Mile 50, Abakaliki, Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi applauded Governor Umahi for the tremendous assistance to the Church during his eight year tenure.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, Governor-elect, Hob. Francis Nwifuru were among the dignitaries that accompanied the governor to the church service.
