The Director-General (DG), National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Lanre Gbajabiamila, has drawn the attention of the Minister, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs (FMSDIA), Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, to problems being faces by the NLRC.
This was contained in a statement from the Head, Press and Public Relations, Analstatia Ogbonna, when the Minister paid courtesy call on the DG recently.
Among the problems he presented to the minister for solution, were improved remuneration for staff, which the minister promised to address with relevant authorities; deployment of a Central Monitoring Systems (CMS) for lottery operations, with the reason that it will not only provide accurate data of operators, but will improve revenue and; facilitating the Commission’s desire for permanent accommodation, saying that their continued stay in rented one has become a big burden.
Reiterating the need for collaboration, saying it will engender shared vision, transparency and accountability, which according to her will in turn accelerate service delivery while promoting global best practices, the DG therefore lauded the Minister for the visit, saying: “It was a significant step towards fostering a healthier working relationship between the Commission and the supervising Ministry “.
Earlier the Minister called for team work and zero tolerance for corruption as a way of realizing the Ministry’s mandate vis-a-vis President Bola Tinubu’s 8-point agenda.
He said: “We must key into this agenda. It is team work and I need your cooperation to execute the mandates.”
Also speaking, the ministry’s permanent ministry, Ibiene Roberts said the minister’s visit to the commission serves a dual purpose of familiarisation with the operations of the Commission and to foster greater understanding and cooperation between the ministry and your Commission.”
The highlight of the occasion was however the presentation of memorabilia to the Minister by DG.
